Financial peace of mind for Canadians with disabilities

At Stride Credit Union, we recognize the financial inequalities many people with disabilities face in our communities. That's why we’re proud to offer the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), a powerful tool to help you save for the long term.

Your RDSP questions answered

To qualify, the beneficiary must:
• Be eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC)
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number
• Be a Canadian resident
• Be under 60 years of age
The holder opens and manages the RDSP and can also be the beneficiary, if they are an adult and legally able to enter into a contract. Otherwise, a parent, spouse, common-law partner, sibling, or legal guardian can be the holder. The beneficiary receives the RDSP funds.
You can contribute at your own pace, with no annual limits, up to a lifetime maximum of $200,000.
The federal government offers two types of incentives for RDSPs, the Canada Disability Savings Grant (CDSG) and the Canada Disability Savings Bond (CDSB)
The CDSG is a matching grant of 100%, 200% or 300% of contributions, depending on the beneficiary’s net family income and the amount contributed to an RDSP, up to a maximum of $3,500 CDSG annually. The lifetime limit is $70,000.
The CDSB is an amount paid by the federal government into the RDSPs of low to modest income families. The government will pay up to $1,000 per year, and the lifetime maximum is $20,000.
